Trajectory formed the second part of our survey show, this time showcasing artists working in the wider Yorkshire region, from Hull to Todmorden to Sheffield and back to Leeds again. The title ('the path a projectile makes through space under the action of given forces such as thrust, wind and gravity') reflected Vitrine's own journey into the New Year as well as its path through the one just passed, and hints at the various forces under which the project operates.
As with 'Launchpad', the artists responded individually to the unique qualities and locations of the Vitrine venues, resulting a diverse selection of works, held together by virtue of their site-specific and -responsive nature. These two group shows reflect Vitrine's concerns with alternative ways of mapping the city centre, an idea further explored in a special event to accompany Trajectory, a supper walk around the exhibition staged in collaboration with Leeds Civic Trust on Wednesday 1st March.
