Lucy Gibson is an artist and curator based in Leeds, the city where she originally studied on a Foundation course at Leeds College of Art and Design. She has just completed her Msc in Electronic Imaging at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, Dundee, having previously completed her BA in Fine Art at Glasgow School of Art. Gibson is a founding member of E m e r g e D, an international artist-run organisation specialising in commissioning site and context-responsive artworks in three cities and Monitor, a Leeds-based organisation operating outside the traditional gallery setting. Recent exhibitions include Testbed2 at Leeds Met Gallery (2004) and resourceCITE during Situation Leeds (2005).

Meriel Herbert was born in Cardiff and completed her MA at Sheffield Hallam University in 2000. She is now based in Sheffield where she had a solo show at BLOC Space in 2005. She has recently taken part in several group shows in the UK and Europe and is currently showing ‘Olwen Returns’ at the Moravian Gallery in the Czech Republic (2005-05). In 2005 she represented her home country in ‘Over And Over Again’, a show of Welsh film and video artists at the Centre Fro Contemporary Art in Vilnius, Lithuania.

Matthew Houlding was born in Keighley and is now based in Todmorden, West Yorkshire. Having grown up in East Africa, he was educated in England, originally training in Silversmithing at Loughborough College of Art and Design. Post degree he worked as a welder-fabricator before becoming a freelance arts technician and fabricator. He has exhibited widely in group shows across the UK, including Bluecoat Gallery, Liverpool; EAST International, Norwich; and currently in the British Art Show 6 at Baltic, Gateshead and touring. Recent solo shows include ‘Continental Drift’ at The Lowry, Salford (2004); ‘Archipelago’ at Buro Fur Kunst, Dresden and Artbuero, Berlin; ‘ Victory Park’ at Leeds City Art Gallery; and ‘ Clearwater’ at Unit 2 Gallery, London Met University (all 2005).

Pippa Koszerek was born in Luxembourg and is now based in Hull where she is an artist and manager of the Independent Art School. Previously she organised seminars at RED Gallery and was also fundraiser and volunteer co-ordinator of the artist-led 54 degrees North festival of site-specific art in galleries and the public realm in Hull 2003. Koszerek has worked on public art commissions in the UK as well as in Luxembourg and France. In 2006 she will take part in the ‘Pepinieres Europeennes pour Jeunes Artistes’ residency programme in Huesca, Spain and will also exhibit at the Galerie Dominique Lang in Luxembourg.

Simon Le Ruez was born in Jersey and is now based in Sheffield, having completed an MA in Sculpture at Winchester School of Art in 1995. He has received several scholarships and awards including the ‘Inspiral Creativity Award’ in 2003 and an Arts Council Travel Award to New York in 2002. He has exhibited widely in the UK and abroad. Group shows include ‘(dis)comfort’ at Angel Row Gallery, Nottingham and ‘ARTfutures’ at Bloomberg Space, London (both 2005); ‘Marks In Space’ at Usher Gallery, Lincoln and ‘Pleasures Taken’ at Derby Museum and Art Gallery (both 2004). Recent solo shows include ‘Acts Of Generosity’ at Castlefield Gallery, Manchester and ‘Stories of Solitude’ at Arhus Kunstbygning, Denmark (both 2005) and ‘Threats And Promises’ at BLOC Space, Sheffield (2003).
